Let's kick off FoodTalk Channel with a recent Chinese New Year event on 31/01/25 at Emperors of China in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Opened in 2008, Emperors of China has been serving authentic Chinese cuisine and handmade dim sum, which is a popular spot for locals and Chinese from all over who are based in Phnom Penh, and it is recommended for tourists who want a bite of dim sum and more.

The person behind this restaurant is Denise Lum, a Singaporean and the COO of the company Wong and Meas Restaurant, which operates another dim sum restaurant called Dim Sum Emperors. This is a more fast-paced and casual dim sum eating spot, while the latter is a more upscale yet casual and slow-paced dining experience.

Leading the kitchen at Emperors of China is Chef Lu Shichang, a veteran in dim sum with over 30 years of experience. He started his career with the Haigang Catering Group in 2003 and advanced to Head Dim Sum Chef at Xiaolan Harbor Restaurant by 2005. After becoming Master Chef Mai’s apprentice in 2009, Chef Lu assumed the role of Master Dim Sum Chef at Emperors of China in 2012. His innovative method of offering steamed-to-order and handmade dim sum has greatly impacted Cambodia's F&B industry. Joining Chef Lu is Chef Wen Chuantong, originally from Guangzhou, who has spent over 20 years perfecting Cantonese cuisine. Having worked in various cities and serving 12 years at Emperors of China, Chef Wen excels in crafting dishes that preserve the natural flavors of ingredients while focusing on precise cooking techniques.
Besides that, the company also franchises Dim Sum Emperors, offers B2B of frozen dim sum, and provides ready-to-heat meals for HoReCa and modern trade. Check out their social pages and websites for more information.

Lastly, wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year, 2025, and let's usher in the Year of the Snake. Wishing everyone a year full of golden opportunities and memorable moments. 新年快乐 (Xin Nian Kuai Le)!
